Since I was in NYC and am totally not one of those scheduled/organized bloggers like the rest of you, I missed Dearest Love's Coffee Date link up. But I want to catch you all up on life even if it is too late to link up! I just love her idea of "coffee date posts". The idea is sharing everything you would if we were chatting over coffee, your current highs + lows of life and what has been going on. I feel like I haven't blogged in a month so I'm excited to share today!
+ Whole30 + My husband and I started our Whole30 journey on March 1st. Okay, I'm going to be brutally honest. Normally, (of what I've read) people don't start wearing down, craving sugar, and getting those withdraw headaches until the second week. All of those started for us on the second day. Yep. We are total sugar-junkies, apparently. It's not that it's been hard resisting the temptation but I just can't stop thinking about sugar. I didn't realize I had such a strong love for that sweet stuff. I'm going to need your prayers to get through the next 27 days without biting someone's head off. On a lighter note, I have loved eating fruits, veggies, fish and the occasional mound of bacon for my meals. I'm not so sure that's true of my husband who dies a little inside every time we pass any restaurant we once used to love to go to (aka, all of them). If anyone has any lunch ideas for him, I NEED to hear them. He is on the road during the day so he can't heat anything up which makes it SO HARD to pack his lunch. Spinach with no dressing just ain't cuttin' it, y'all.
+ New Do + A few months ago, I went black. Since spring is quickly approaching, I wanted to lighten up a bit. My friend and hairdresser, Lee, took on the challenge of turning my colored black hair into a light and almost-blonde hairstyle. Who knew that my hair wouldn't turn even with bleach and would take seven hours to finally get right. That was a fun day. I also cut off three inches and what a difference that makes!! Do you have a favorite or least favorite hairstyle? Have you ever had a hair nightmare?
+ NYC BDAY 15 + My amazing husband took me to NYC for my birthday, for the second year in a row. It was such a fun trip! We traveled to new places in New York that we didn't set foot on the last trip. We fell in love with Greenwich Village & almost bought a $6,000 painting by Markus Pierson. If you haven't been introduced with his work, go check him out. His coyote paintings are amazing! We found the perfect little restaurant called the Tipsy Parson that we would recommend to anyone looking for a yummy breakfast & lunch. We sipped tea inside to warm up from the snowy wonderland we were in. We went to the Plaza, the central park zoo, and Serendipity for the first time. I LOVE going to aquariums & zoos so this was the perfect birthday present ever! We loved spending time together in the big city & being silly together. I love my husband!
+ Tattoos + This week, I'll be going for a tattoo appointment to talk about the tattoo I've created & have wanted for years and years. I'm super excited! I can't wait to share the tattoo and the meaning with you all after I get it! Here is a sneak peek of the kind of font that will be used:
